Ironwood, Michigan
Ironwood, Michigan lies on what is called the Gogebic Range in the Northwestern corner of the Michigan Upper Peninsula. The Gogebic Range was rich with iron ore. The first settlers of what would become Ironwood appeared in 1885 to tap the discovered iron ore deposits. in April of 1889 Ironwood is registered as a city, and in the same month the Chicago & Northwestern Railway established through train service. The service ran from Ironwood to Milwaukee and on to Chicago!
